Coaching institutes and schools run mock tests on OMR sheets so students get used to bubbling answers quickly and accurately, and teachers get instant, comparable results. This guide shows how to run NEET and JEE-style mock tests with ToolAdda OMR.

NEET-style mock tests

NEET (UG) is a pen-and-paper exam with an OMR answer sheet. In recent years it has had 180 multiple-choice questions across Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with 4 marks for a correct answer and 1 mark deducted for a wrong one.

Set it up

  1. In the generator, choose the NEET-style preset. It creates four sections of 45 questions (Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology) with +4 / −1 marking, a 10-digit roll number grid and booklet sets A–D.
  2. Adjust the section titles or counts if your mock test differs, for example combine Botany and Zoology into one Biology section of 90 questions.
  3. Enter the answer key for each booklet set you use.
  4. Download the PDF with the number of copies you need and Print sheet numbers turned on.

With small bubbles, all 180 questions, the roll number grid and instructions fit on a single A4 page.

JEE Main-style mock tests

JEE Main is conducted as a computer-based test, but many institutes still use OMR sheets for practice papers. Its recent pattern has Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics sections, each with multiple-choice questions and numerical-answer questions.

Set it up

  1. Choose the JEE Main-style preset. Each subject has 20 multiple-choice questions and 5 numerical questions with 4-digit answer grids, all marked +4 / −1.
  2. For numerical questions, students write the answer in the boxes and darken one digit per column. Tell them to right-align the number (for example, 0045 or leave leading columns blank).
  3. Enter numerical answers in the key as plain numbers such as 45. The checker compares values, so 45 and 0045 match.

Running the test

  • Distribute sets smartly: give neighbouring students different booklet sets and make sure each student bubbles the right set code.
  • Time it like the real exam, including time for filling the OMR sheet.

  • Collect sheets flat, without folding or stapling them.

Checking and analysis

  1. Open the OMR checker. The layout, key and marking scheme come from the generator automatically.
  2. Scan the sheets with a document scanner into one PDF, or capture them with a phone camera.
  3. Review sheets marked Check, especially wrong or missing set codes.
  4. Download the CSV. It includes section-wise scores and every response, so you can rank students, find the hardest questions and track progress across tests.

Question-level analysis in a spreadsheet

The CSV has one column per question. In Excel or Google Sheets you can:

  • count how many students chose each option with COUNTIF, to spot misleading options;
  • calculate the percentage of correct answers per question to identify topics that need revision;
  • sort by section score to form targeted practice groups.

Frequently asked questions

Are these official NEET or JEE OMR sheets?

No. They are practice layouts inspired by these exams and are not affiliated with the National Testing Agency or any exam body.

Can I add more sections, like an optional part?

Yes. Add as many sections as you need, each with its own marking. Remember to enter the key for every question you want scored.

How do I handle a question dropped from the key?

Leave its key blank. Unkeyed questions are ignored when scoring.
